Want to become a better home chef or chase even bigger culinary dreams? In this 6-week session you will learn new recipes, master different meals and feel comfortable and independent in the kitchen. We will be going over knife skills, mise en place (origination) while cooking fun interesting food from around the world and developing life skills. Ages 11 - 15. Register with your friends and siblings as students are grouped in sets of 2,3 or 4 for cooking stations. Please wear your favorite Apron each week. Aprons not provided.

Do you like creating and drawing your own characters? Does learning to draw characters from your favorite shows and games excite you? Then this is the class for you! We will be learning the fundamentals of character design and understanding the basics of drawing people. Have fun drawing your characters in manga, anime, and traditional styles, whichever you choose. In this class we will explore what makes a successful character, doing our best to create a new one from scratch or re-constructing an existing one. Using the fundamentals of drawing, it will help us develop our characters further. So come explore different styles of design as we create our very own memorable characters! Paper/pencils/colored pencils supplied. Students are welcome to bring their own sketch books, ink pens or Copic markers. Ages 11 - 15

Our adventure will lead us to create enchanted vessels, mugs, candle votives, whistles and more. All with decorative and sculptural embellishments of your own choosing! Like to draw Japanese characters like Manga and even some from a popular hunting/collecting games? Come hang out in this "club-like" class and draw in your favorite journal, taking one of the drawings, cut it out or enlarge it and mount it on a larger painted background, or create stories in your journal/sketchbook. The teacher will have props to help you with this project. Students need to bring journal of choice and are welcome to bring favorite props as well. Ages 10 - 16

Escape the digital doldrums and discover pictures you can touch! You'll learn how to craft your own hand-made gelatin silver photographs using brand new, cutting-edge methods, and others more than 100 years old. This class will cover: - How to load and use a film camera. (cameras provided for use during class) - Learning how to make a good exposure - Developing black & white film - Making proof sheets / contact prints - Learning which negatives will make the best prints - Using darkroom enlargers to make traditional silver-gelatin photographs. Ages 11 – 16. Maximum 8 students.

Learn how to draw realistically by doing what the master artists did! Draw from life and copy artworks to learn the artist's secrets. The instructor will provide objects to draw and artworks to copy, but students are welcome to bring their own as well. Students will learn a classical approach and receive individual constructive feedback. Suggested materials are: 2H, HB and 2B pencils (Staedtler brand recommended), 11"x14" drawing paper pad (Strathmore brand recommended), pencil sharpener, kneaded eraser and ruler. The instructor can provide drawing materials to students for a $20.00 fee if notified ahead of time. Ages 11-16

Calling All Middle School & Early High School students! Come out and join DFAC's Teen Art Club! Sign up with a friend and meet some new ones. In this club we encourage socializing in a positive, artsy, open studio type environment. The instructor will offer suggestions but it is up to you to use your creative imagination. The club will meet for 3 Saturdays to explore a different medium focus during each class. Material fee includes: Materials, chips, water/soda. See you there!
