Learning is fun at the Dunedin Fine Art Center! At DFAC, we’re proud to be a Pinellas County School-approved tour site. We love sharing fun and educational opportunities with both students and teachers alike. The Dunedin Fine Art Center offers school tours starting in September and continuing through the remainder of the school year. Even better, State standards can be easily identified and correlated throughout each of the three stages of our student tours. We hope that every student has the opportunity to experience the Dunedin Fine Art Center!
Experience the Arts in Three Parts
Our student tours are divided into three parts, so your tour will be organized, educational and fun. Here’s what you can expect when you organize a school tour at the Dunedin Fine Art Center:
Part 1: The first leg of the student tour begins with a 30 to 45 minute gallery discussion, where science, history, social influence and impact, principles and elements of design, creative problem solving and humor are all involved! Students will learn about paintings, photographs and sculptures and how art and thematic topics are related to the mediums.
Part 2: After the gallery discussion, students will proceed to the hands-on gallery. From here, for 30 to 45 minutes, they can explore, create, and build on concepts and images from the original artworks seen in the gallery.
Part 3: The final part of the student tour will conclude with a 30 minute component of the tour. Here, students will gather in the studio for a teacher-direction activity that is related to the exhibit.
The total time for student tours is 2 hours. The Dunedin Fine Art Center offers a discounted fee for student tours at $3 per student. If you plan to visit the Dunedin Fine Art Center as a group of 10 or more, please call ahead to verify our hours and to ensure that there aren’t any other groups booked. Please download and fill out a tour request form and fax the information to 727-298-3326 or email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please note: Due to Covid19, groups are limited to a max of 20 students that will then be broken down into two groups of 10. Masks and temperature checks are required to enter DFAC. Thanks for helping keep DFAC happy and healthy.
