Metal clay is made from powdered metal and binders mixed with water. Fired in a kiln or with a torch, metal clay allows for deep textures, sculpted and molded elements, and great details that can be combined with traditional metal smithed components. It is ideal for mixed media jewelry combining CZ's, glass, ceramic and other materials. This one-day workshop is ideal for beginners, those wishing to brush up on metal clay skills, and jewelry artists who would like to explore using metal clay in their creations. You will make a pendant, mold charms, set faceted Cubic Zirconia into metal clay before firing, and torch fire a pair of earrings. You will also learn how to finish, patina, and polish your pieces. A materials fee of $85 includes 25 grams of fine silver clay and all materials needed to complete projects.
