911 - The Colors of Nature

In this class, you will discover the exquisite colors and marks of nature that you will use for dying and printing fabric, yarn and paper. You'll learn about ancient dyes, such as indigo and cochineal, how to use mordents and methods for making your own dyes, inks and prints from locally sourced plants. We will also explore rust dyeing/printing, compost and fermentation dying. Your results will be beautifully dyed scarves and several large samples. All materials supplied by instructor.
