CL126 Beginning Clay Handbuilding With Diane Abernathy

In this introductory class we will be exploring all the possibilities for clay handbuilding. Each week will be a new project with a different technique to help you build on your skills. You will learn to use hump and slump molds, coil, extruder, and slab building. With these techniques we will make plates, bowls, mugs, boxes, and containers with lids, as well as non-functional decorative pieces. Lastly, you will learn how to glaze with our studio glazes and use underglaze. We will also explore other firing techniques such as Raku and Obvara. Ages 17 and up.
