Public Art Project
Purpose:
The City of Dunedin seeks proposals from artists, or teams of artists, qualified to complete an artwork project at TD Ballpark located at 373 Douglas Avenue, Dunedin, FL 34698. The City will select up to three artists or artist teams (the “semi-finalists”) who will present their proposals to the Project Subcommittee. The semi-finalists will be notified by 04/29/2022 by email.
Project Title/Themes: “JayWalk Sidewalk Mural Project” and themes Baseball/Baseball & Dunedin Related
Budget: $12,500.

Eligibility:
Open to qualified mosaic artists legally residing in Pinellas, Hillsborough, Pasco, Polk, and Manatee Counties.
Funding Partners: The Funding partners are the City of Dunedin and the Public Art Fund.
The City of Dunedin’s mission is to create a Community Partnership between the City Government and its residents, Dedicated to Quality Service to effectively, efficiently and equitably enhance the Quality of Life in Dunedin. Dunedin strives to be a livable Coastal community with a unique sense of place within the Tampa Bay metro area. To this end, the City has a robust public art program supported by both private developer and City funding. This City-funded project is a continuing step in the enhancing and renewing of a central, prominent and much used part of the Downtown.
For more than 40 years, the Toronto Blue Jays have had a home in Dunedin, Florida and are the only Major League franchise to have never changed where they play their Spring Training baseball. Chosen as the Spring Training home for the expansion Toronto Blue Jays in 1977, Dunedin has served as a proud host of Major League Spring Training ever since.
Art Project Overview
The first step of this design competition will be the review of application materials with the intent of identifying up to three semi-finalist artists/artist teams and their concept ideas most favored by the Selection Panel. Following this initial selection process will be the further refinement of these concept ideas and presentations given by the semi-finalists. (The semi-finalist units will each be given a $500 honorarium to develop and present their proposals). Only one finalist will be offered this commission.
This project is located in Dunedin, Florida. Recognized statewide for its vibrant arts and culture scene, Dunedin maintains its small-town charm with its population of approximately 37,000 residents. One of the oldest cities on the West Coast of Florida, Dunedin has a traditional main street, wooded and subtropical setting and almost four miles of picturesque waterfront.
