Quintet of 2015 Fall Exhibits at DFAC are WILD!

All FIVE of DFAC’s Galleries GO WILD for Fall 2014 Exhibitions.

Things are getting a little WILD in Dunedin. The Dunedin Fine Art Center’s quintet of WILD Fall exhibits will take up every inch of DFAC’s newly expanded gallery space.

Carlton Ward Jr : Florida WILD  in the Gamble Family Gallery, highlights works by this conservation photographer and eighth-generation Floridian based in Tampa. With training in ecology and photojournalism, his current purpose is to protect Florida’s nature and culture through art. He founded Florida Wildlife Corridor in 2010, bringing new attention to a statewide vision to keep Florida wild.

The Entel Family Gallery hosts Beauty & the Beasts. This exhibition of artists working in a variety of media explores the beauty and beastliness in all creatures. Artists include: Abdiel Acosta, Matt Adrian, Jennifer Angus, Kristin Beauvois, Coralette Damme, DemiGod, Perry deVick, Sarah Emerson, Magdalene Gluszek, Theo Jansen, Polly Johnson, Graciela Iturbide, Markus Lupertz, Stephanie Metz, Veronica Stewart and Keisuke Teshima.

Call of the WILD howls in the Meta B. Brown Gallery. This all-media juried exhibition is the result of a community call to artists on the unbridled theme of all that is WILD.

A second photography exhibit lands in the Douglas-Whitley GalleryLinda Adele Goodine: Beeline Highway. The photographer and Carol Grotnes Belk Distinguished Professor at East Carolina University, presents images from her 30 year career as creator, educator and mentor. Everyone is invited to attend her Artist Talk on Wednesday, October 14 at 7pm.

In WILD THINGS: LIVE at DFAC the David L. Mason Children’s ART Museum real and fantastical creatures/animals come alive with your imagination. An exhibit of work from DFAC Summer Camp artists shares the same name, but occupies its own space in the Kokolakis Family Youth Gallery.

The two day Grand Opening Extravaganza includes a Gallery Talk Friday night, September 11th from 6-7 pm, with the opening reception for the exhibitions following immediately from 7-9 pm featuring refreshments and LIVE music.  September 12th from 10 am – 2 pm is DFAC’s KID’S ART FEST. Games, Food and Music will be the menu of the day, as well as a 10:30 am award ceremony for the young WILD THINGS artists & a cars for Kids presentation.

Admission is $5 Friday night September 11th (FREE to DFAC Members) and FREE for EVERYONE on Saturday, September 12th (donations are ALWAYS gratefully accepted). Visit  www.dfac.org or call 727.298.DFAC for more information.
