Bringing a Little of the Southwest to Dunedin is the Goal of Land of Enchantment!
It’s been nearly a year since a group of DFAC supporters and Sterling Society members came back from a week long art seeking excursion New Mexico. DFAC’s curator, Catherine Bergmann was along for the trip and planted the seeds that have found fruition in the exhibits on display this fall at DFAC through December 23.
Not to be outdone, the rest of the travel group has gotten together and planned what is sure to be a memorable evening celebrating New Mexico and Southwestern culture. They’re calling it Land of Enchantment! and have lined up some incredible partners to present a night like no other, In addition to the exhibits on display, There will be special performances by five-time World Champion Hoop Dancer and musician Tony Duncan and flamenco duo and dancer, Roberto and Garcia. Needless to say, the official drink of the evening will be Margaritas and there will also be a Tequila Sampling Bar. There will be live music and an opportunity to bid on some Southwest goodies to take home with you.
The Party is from 6:30-9:30 pm on Friday, September 27th at the Dunedin Fine Art Center.
All of this adds up to a party that is turning out to be “can’t miss” kind of affair. Cindy Collman, who helped arrange the original New Mexico trip on behalf of the Sterling Society and is co-chair of the Land of Enchantment party, explains that “the whole idea of visiting New Mexico and arranging these exhibits at DFAC was to experience the great vistas of the Southwest and the art that has been inspired by it.” Lisbeth Graham, Cindy’s co-chair for the event concludes that, “this party just takes that idea and runs with it. We really hope to catch a little of the feeling of Santa Fe and Taos for the evening.”
The event is a fundraiser to help support the Southwestern exhibits and other educational programming at the Dunedin Fine Art Center. Tickets are $50 for Sterling members and $75 for non-members. Sponsorships are also available. They are available online at www.dfac.org or by calling 727.877.0127.
