
The Source: Open Call to Artists

The Source is a juried exhibition and open call to artists in our community.
Explore the source of your art and inspiration in ways both literal or metaphorical, whether it be a wellspring, a flame, a muse. All media is accepted and there are no size limitations. Guest judge is Lynn Whitelaw, formerly curator of the Leepa-Rattner Museum and currently curator at the Brooker Creek Preserve. Cash prizes will be awarded.
Artwork Submission: August 27-29, 2025 from 10 am to 4 pm
Guidelines:
- All 2 + 3D media welcome, no size limitations. *2D works must be ready to hang.
- Artworks should be labeled with (artist name, title, media, price)
- Works sold will share 40% commission with DFAC
- Entry Fee Per Piece: $20 Members / $25 Non-Members (we accept cash, credit or check)
Exhibition Details
The exhibition will be on view in the Rossi Gallery and Meta B. Brown Gallery September 19 through October 19, 2025.
An opening reception will be held on Friday, September 19 from 6pm to 9pm.
Guest Judge – Lynn Whitelaw
R. Lynn Whitelaw retired in 2015 as Founding Director and Chief Curator of the Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art at St. Petersburg College, where over 17 years he designed the permanent galleries, curated more than 25 major exhibitions, expanded the collection through the acquisition of the Gulf Coast Museum of Art holdings, and led the museum to American Alliance of Museums accreditation. A graduate of Florida State University with BA and MA degrees in Art History and Criticism, he has organized over 120 exhibitions, written numerous catalogs, and juried more than 30 shows.
His previous roles include Curator of Education at the Tampa Museum of Art and gallery director and faculty member at Hillsborough Community College. In retirement, he has continued curating for regional institutions, organizing exhibitions at Brooker Creek Preserve, Dunedin Fine Art Center, and Hillsborough Community College, while also lecturing, publishing, and conducting research on Florida art history.
