Pressing On: Printmaking at the Dunedin Fine Art Center
Date: May 29, 2026 - August 23, 2026
Gallery: Teaching Gallery
Printmaking has long held a special place at the Dunedin Fine Art Center, where the studio serves not only as a site of technical exploration, but as a vibrant community hub. This exhibition brings together a cross-section of that community—current students and faculty alongside former instructors and alumni—highlighting the depth, continuity, and shared spirit of the print department.
Working across a wide range of techniques, the works on view reflect a diversity of subject matter and approach, unified not by style but by a commitment to process, experimentation, and craft.
At the heart of the department is access: to tools, to knowledge, and to one another. As one of the only publicly accessible etching presses in the region, the studio opens its doors to artists at all stages of their practice, fostering both individual growth and collective exchange. What emerges is a rare balance of a tight-knit, supportive environment that remains deeply welcoming to newcomers.
This exhibition celebrates not only the artwork produced within the print studio, but the relationships, mentorship, and shared curiosity that sustain it. Together, these works offer a portrait of a creative community grounded in tradition, energized by collaboration, and continually evolving.
