Low Tide / High Root: APIDA Diasporic Perspectives
Date: January 16, 2026 - February 22, 2026
Gallery: Entel Family Gallery
Low Tide / High Root brings together seven Tampa Bay artists who share Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) backgrounds. Their work reflects the blending of cultures, traditions, and technologies, moving between personal stories and collective memory. The exhibition ranges from reimagined traditional forms to AI-driven animation and pop-culture-inspired narratives.
Florida is often seen as a tropical paradise, but, like a low tide revealing what lies beneath, it also carries unseen challenges. For these artists, Florida becomes both a place of beauty and a site of cultural negotiation and transformation. Their art speaks to the distances—emotional, geographic, and cultural—that shape diasporic life, as well as the joys of creating at the intersections of many influences.
Together, the artists present a powerful portrait of APIDA identity in Tampa Bay: rooted in tradition, shaped by place, and continually reinvented with each new wave.
