Carlton Ward Jr is a conservation photographer and eighth-generation Floridian based in Tampa. With training in ecology and photojournalism, Carlton advocates combining art with science to inspire hearts and minds. His current purpose is to protect Florida’s nature and culture through art. He founded Florida Wildlife Corridor in 2010 and in 2012 led a 100-day, 1000-mile expedition from Everglades National Park to the Okefenokee Swamp in southern Georgia. The journey continued in 2015 with a 70-day, 1000-mile trek from the Everglades Headwaters near Orlando to Gulf Islands National Seashore near Pensacola, bringing new attention to a statewide vision to keep Florida wild.
Ward’s work is exhibited widely and published in Audubon, Smithsonian, Geo, Nature Conservancy and National Geographic. His award-winning book credits include: The Edge of Africa and Florida Cowboys.
