Brooke Allison: Life Capturing Lessons
The Dunedin Fine Art Center is proud to present a solo exhibition of works by Brooke Allison. Known primarily for her luminous and evocative still lifes, Allison brings an extraordinary sensitivity to color, form, and composition, qualities that have defined her decades-long career and established her as one of the most respected figurative painters working in Florida today.
A Master Pastelist with the Pastel Society of America and a signature member of numerous prestigious organizations, Allison’s work spans still life, portraiture, landscape, and the figure. Her pastel compositions, rich in texture and color, have been shown widely throughout the United States, and her paintings have appeared in institutions such as the Tampa Museum of Art and the Jacksonville Museum of Art.
Allison’s artistic voice was shaped by rigorous study at The Art Institute of Chicago, The American Academy of Art, and with eminent teachers from The Art Students League and The National Academy of Art. Grounded in traditional training yet deeply personal in execution, her work reflects a lifelong commitment to painting from life, whether capturing the quiet intimacy of objects, the presence of a sitting model, or the personality in a portrait.
Beyond her studio practice, Brooke Allison has been a beloved instructor at the Dunedin Fine Art Center for many years, inspiring generations of artists through her teaching in pastel, oil, and figure painting. Her influence extends beyond her own work, having helped foster a vibrant pastel community in the Tampa Bay area, including the formation of the Pastel Society of Tampa Bay of which she is a founding force.
