W-CL612 Explore the Magic and Chemistry of In Glaze Lusters with Lisa Zolandz

March 7, 2026 @ 10:00 am 5:00 pm

Advanced

2 Day Workshop March 7-8 Saturday and Sunday

Levels: Intermediate, Advanced, Professional

Learn how to make and fire in-glaze lusters at mid and high fire temperatures with Lisa Zolandz. Part science and part alchemy, in-glaze lusters are glazes containing metals (bismuth, silver) that develop fascinating iridescence when reduction fired.

In this two day workshop, Lisa will discuss the chemistry of luster glazes, how she approaches glaze testing and development, her results from extensive testing and experimentation and multiple methods for post fire reduction including building a small raku style kiln. Attendees will participate in post fire reduction during the workshop and undoubtedly see how incredibly variable these glazes are.
