JW230 Introduction to Metal Clay Jewelry Making with Barbara Rivolta

Learn the basics of metal clay jewelry making in fine silver and bronze clays. Metal clay is finely ground metal mixed with a food grade binder—Playdoh for adults. It is easy to texture, mold, and sculpt. It is also easy to combine with other media including glass, pottery, and metal smithed elements. In this class you will design your own textures and make your own silicone molds. You will start with bronze clay and graduate to fine silver making earrings, hollow bead forms, and a pendant set with fire in place stones.

Materials Kit Fee: $120 (Payable to DFAC) contains 25 gr. fine silver clay, 50 gr. bronze clay, scratch foam, silicone mold material, cubic zirconia, misc. findings.

Tool List: clay roller, pin tool, clay shaper, Xacto knife (#11 blade), rigid tissue blade, thickness guides or rolling frames, non-stick work surface, tuff cards, water color brushes #s 0 & 2, 4 small containers with lids, small fine mist spray bottle, ball point pen, ball burnisher, jewelry shape templates, texture sheets, small buttons, shells or other keepsake items for mold-making
