CL134 Handbuilt Sculptural Vessels with Joanna Mazurek
January 9, 2026 @ 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Beginner
This Class is designed for beginners and students with some experience with clay. Students will learn the fundamental techniques of hand building, including coiling, pinching, and slab construction, to create sculptural vessels. They’ll explore how to manipulate clay to achieve organic forms, textures, and detailed surfaces, while gaining a deeper understanding of balance, proportion, and the interplay of form and function. Additionally, students will be introduced to surface decoration techniques such as carving, glazing, and underglazing. By the end of the course, students will not only have developed their technical skills but also their ability to express themselves through ceramics, creating unique, sculptural pieces with personal meaning. Ages 17 and up.
