Rich Entel and Love Magnified Kick off 2016 with a BANG at DFAC

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Date: Dec 15, 2015
From:
Dunedin Fine Art Center
Contact: Ken Hannon @ 727.298.DFAC, x230

DFAC is Magnified in SO Many Ways by Two Winter Exhibits.

When the Miniature Art exhibit is in the house, its 700 works of art (small as they are) is usually enough to fill all of DFAC’s Galleries.  With the 2014 expansion and the addition of two additional gallery spaces, DFAC is able to GO BIG, even when many of the works are small.

As is often the case, Catherine Bergmann, DFAC’s Curatorial Director likes to pair visiting exhibits with local offering in the same theme.  This is often a delightful coupling and this years Love Magnified, which plays not only on the presence of the miniature art show (size requirements ensure small works), but also the timing during the valentine season is sure to please.   Love Magnified is a juried exhibition of miniature valentines in all media! You’ll be able to view these mini-homages to something, someone or someplace cherished. This will prove to be an exhibition of LOVE DECLARED.

The BIG departure here will be the display of Rich Entel’s Cardboard Menagerie in the Gamble Family Gallery. Whimsical yet formidable, this menagerie gives broken musical instruments a new body and a new voice. These angular and intricate sculptures are an ingenious fusion of fragmented musical instruments, discarded cardboard, and ancient texts transformed into a menagerie of soulful animals with an otherworldly presence.

Daniel Kany notes in a recent review of this work in the Portland Press Herald that, Entel’s work offers some real depth behind its impressive first impression… Entel’s unapologetically cubist style is an excellent vehicle for wit… and finally that Entel’s works are compelling three-dimensional compositions.
This all adds up to a body of work that must not be missed.

Hours are Monday-Saturday: 10am – 5pm, Sunday: 12 noon – 4pm
