Hanging out, drinking delicious coffee, talking about art… ahhhh, that’s the life! Well, that IS the life at least for an hour or so each month at the Dunedin Fine Art Center’s Coffee and Conversation series. Enjoy coffee (Presented by the Sterling Society of DFAC) and insights as each month’s invited guest holds forth on their own area of expertise. Admission to these relaxed talks is $5 and is FREE to current DFAC members.
Thursday, May 11th, 2017 at 12 noon, the series hosts woodturner Art Worth. Art’s presentation will take you on a journey from finding the right piece of wood through the process of transforming it into a final turned piece. Sources of wood, tools of the trade, design considerations, processes and steps used for turning, and finishes used to complete the final piece will be included.
Art Worth is a resident of Palm Harbor and has been making custom cabinets and furniture for many years. Art started wood turning in 1992. He is semi-retired and presently employed part-time as General Manager of a private equity fund and wood turning instructor at DFAC. He makes all types of turned items and has won awards at juried art shows and the Florida State Fair. He enjoys transforming an ordinary piece of wood into a functional item or an art piece for display. Art is a member of The American Association of Woodturners and is the current president of the Tri-County Woodturners club. He especially enjoys teaching others and has developed a following in his DFAC turning classes.
