1 + 1 = 1 + 1 and B + W this Winter at the Dunedin Fine Art Center

Two solo exhibitions, a two-person installation and a themed group show add up to some interesting mathematics at DFAC  this winter. An Artists Talk slated for January 16, 2015 at 6 pm,  may help with the computations.

Jeff Christ: Private Language  will inhabit the Entel Family Gallery.  Miami-born artist, Jeff Christ has been working undercover for the last 20 years. Schooled at FSU under the mentorship of Arthur Deshaies and William Walmsley with an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, his paintings are a force of nature–in scale, process and palette.

DFAC’s Douglas Whitley Gallery will house Vadis Turner: CondensationVadis Turner’s practice of painting with textiles reimagines abstract paintings as contemporary heirlooms. In Condensation, she explores the dimensional relationships between her fabric paintings and water.

What happens when you turn a gallery over to two skilled and ambitious creators? We will soon find out as Ya La’ford + Nathan Beard: Illuminated Silence transforms DFAC’s Gamble Family Gallery.

An ALL MEDIA call for entries to the DFAC artistic community and beyond was the basis for Black + White, which will occupy the Meta B. Brown Gallery. This juried exhibition in a limited palette promises to be as illuminating as it is stark.

An Artists Talk kicks off the exhibits on January 16th from 6 -7 pm, followed by a reception from 7 – 9 pm.

Admission is $5 Friday night January 16th (FREE to DFAC Members).

Also at the Dunedin Fine Art Center you will find Creative Start: Elementary Schools A-M in the Kokolakis Family Youth Gallery through February 17th

In Land of the Lost,  the David L. Mason Children’s ART Museum casts its gaze above and below earth’s known landscape , to visit lands, real or imagined… you decide!
