JW269 A Great Combination: Metal Smithing and Metal Clay for Jewelry Making with Barbara Rivolta and Gail Thayer

October 31 @ 10:00 am 1:00 pm

Fridays, 6 Week Class
Intermediate, Advanced, Professional

This class is for those who would like to stretch their skills in metal clay and/or metalsmithing. Combining metal clay elements with metal-smithed pieces allows jewelry makers to more easily incorporate molded or highly textured elements into their jewelry. Knowing basic metal smithing techniques allows metal clay jewelry makers to more easily set non-fireable stones, add structural support, and incorporate pre-formed shapes in a design. Learn to solder or improve your soldering skills by making a shaped link bracelet with soldered-on molded metal clay charms and a metal clay toggle clasp. A lovely, sculpted metal clay pendant with soldered bezel set with a non-fireable cabochon will take you through several metal clay techniques. All levels welcome.

Materials: 40 gr. ArtClay .999 metal clay, Two-part Silicone mold material, 12 mm oval gemstone cabochon, bezel wire, 14 gauge sterling silver round wire, 14 gauge 4 mm jump rings. Available for purchase from instructors.
