About the Dunedin Fine Art Center

Our Story
The idea for an art center in Dunedin began over 50 years ago, in 1969, with a vision shared by five women from the Junior Service League of Clearwater-Dunedin. Recognizing the vital role of the arts in everyday life, they dreamed of creating a space where creativity could flourish and the arts could be celebrated. Determined to bring this vision to life, they worked toward fostering a cultural climate and establishing a fine arts and cultural center in Dunedin.
With the support of the League and the City of Dunedin, the groundwork was laid for what would become an enduring legacy. In 1974, their efforts came to fruition as the city broke ground on the Dunedin Fine Art Center. Just one year later, in February 1975, the doors of the original 2,000-square-foot facility opened to the public, guided by a commitment to excellence and a welcoming spirit.
Today, the Dunedin Fine Art Center has grown to nearly 50,000 square feet, rooted in strong community support. Thanks to generous donations, endowments, and memberships, DFAC continues to evolve and thrive, serving the community and enriching lives through the arts.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at DFAC
At the Dunedin Fine Art Center (DFAC), we are dedicated to fostering an inclusive space where everyone can celebrate, explore, and engage with the arts. We believe in creating an environment where all individuals—regardless of background, identity, or perspective—feel welcome, valued, and heard.
We recognize that societal barriers have led to disparities in both our local community and the broader art world. With this understanding, DFAC affirms that the diversity of race, ethnicity, religion, age, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, and economic status enriches our classrooms, exhibits, events, and galleries.
Our commitment is to continuously examine our practices to identify and address unintentional biases and remove barriers to equitable participation. Through these efforts, we strive to create a creative culture that is fair, accessible, and welcoming for all.
