This class is for the person that has little or no experience but is eager to learn technique, skills, making marks and more.Discover the beauty and versatility of Hard and soft pastels in this class designed especially for beginner or little experiences.
Students will learn the basics of working with hard and soft pastels, alcohol wash including choosing materials, understanding different pastel surfaces, layering and blending color, creating strong values, and using a variety of strokes and marks to bring a painting to life.
Through instructor demonstrations and guided, hands-on painting, students will learn how to simplify a reference photograph, establish a composition, build color and value, and develop a finished pastel painting.
The emphasis will be on learning the medium without feeling intimidated by it. Students are encouraged to experiment, enjoy the process, and begin developing confidence in their own artistic voice.
