Have you ever wanted to know the ins and outs of kiln firing and what is possible with your ceramics? This lecture will cover the basics from what is a clay body and what happens with the different stages of clay to why we fire the work and how that process happens in a kiln. Learn the differences between Oxidation and Reduction, mid low and high firings, what are atmospheric firings, the actual make up of kilns and more. This Maker space lecture will be covered by Deon Blackwell who has been teaching ceramics for more than 20 years and has built several kilns in the bay area. The lecture will be followed by Q and A covering any of the basic topics within the kiln firing processes.
