Dunedin Fine Art Center instructor Glenn Woods’ ceramic artistry has risen to a new elite level. The 36th Annual Smithsonian Craft Show, the most prestigious juried show and sale of American fine craft in the country, has chosen Woods to display his works on April 25-29, 2018.

Smithsonian Craft Show Features Elite Artists

120 premier artists representing all facets of contemporary design and craft were selected from a pool of more than 1,000 artists nationwide.

Woods specializes in crystalline glazes that are a combination of being hand-built, shaped on a potter’s wheel and then beaded.

“The show is for really high-end crafts,” says Woods. “It’s an honor to be selected as a participant to be at that high level.”

Woods started artwork in High school. He says he was not good academically, but more artistic. He credits art in helping him overcome his learning disabilities in school.

Woods teaches mainly adults in the intermediate and advanced level ceramics at DFAC. He offers one piece of advice to all his students.

“Follow your passion,” he says. “If you’re looking to make a career, it’s a lifestyle not a job anymore.”
