No Man is an Island at the Dunedin Fine Art Center
Though no man may be an island, the artist as island traveler or explorer might certainly be the theme that joins three exhibits opening, May 4th at the Dunedin Fine Art Center.
In Three Islands, Maine artist, Bill McCarthy exhibits a photographic series created in three environmentally and geographically distinct island locations: the active volcanic island country of Iceland, Bailey Island off the coast of Maine and local barrier island, Caladesi. The images capture an ancient world in today’s light, but ultimately, each image is a world unto itself.
DFAC is excited to offer an exhibition by Sarasota photographer Aydelette Kelsey. Others, Elsewhere, explores the role of artist as traveler. These photographically captured moments from other worlds celebrate what poet, Wallace Stevens, called “the voluptuousness of looking.”
The third exhibition, CASTaway, features works of DFAC’s members who translate the title theme in all media.
