FREE Coffee and Conversation with Debra Thomas-Weible at the Dunedin Fine Art Center.
Hanging out, drinking delicious coffee, talking about art… ahhhh, that’s the life! Well, that IS the life at least for an hour or so each month at the Dunedin Fine Art Center’s Coffee and Conversation series. Enjoy FREE coffee (Presented by the Sterling Society of DFAC) and FREE insights as each month’s invited guest holds forth on their own area of expertise.
Thursday, Jaunuary 8th at 12 noon,the series hosts artist Debra Thomas-Weible. Debra is a watercolor artist who was an Ophthalmologist in a former life. Over the past 15 years, she has slowly learned the art of watercolor , mostly concentrating on domestic animals and wildlife, where she emphasizes the beauty of their eyes.
Debra will talk about watercolor, the history and misconceptions and hopes when she is finished that you will understand the “lure” of this medium.
Come and listen to how she made this journey and see some of her paintings. From the initial idea for a painting to the signature, she will talk you through the painting process that works for her and how she critiques her own paintings.
A lifelong interest in drawing led Debra to watercolor classes at Dunedin Fine Art Center. Her first teacher was the wonderful Ingrid Lederer Austin. The relationship with DFAC has continued and she has served on the board of directors. She is also on the board of trustees of PAVA (Professional Association of Visual Artists).
Her mentor and teacher is the great watercolorist, Pat Weaver, and she continues to paint with and learn from her.
