FREE Coffee and Conversation with Ken Straight at the Dunedin Fine Art Center.
Hanging out, drinking delicious coffee, talking about art… ahhhh, that’s the life! Well, that IS the life at least for an hour or so each month at the Dunedin Fine Art Center’s Coffee and Conversation series. Enjoy FREE coffee (Presented by the Sterling Society of DFAC) and FREE insights as each month’s invited guest holds forth on their own area of expertise.
Thursday, March 14, 2013 at 12 noon, the series hosts knife maker Ken Straight. That’s right… a knife maker, who forges beautiful blades from hot metal in the traditional way. Ken will share his technique via video presentation as well as with completed blades.
Ken Straight was born and raised in Pinellas County. He attended the American Bladesmithing School, where he worked with premier bladesmiths like Bill Moran. His studies continued with forging, heat treating and making Damascus steel blades. He demonstrates blacksmithing/bladesmithing for Pioneer Park in St.Petersburg and is the head volunteer blacksmith at Heritage Village. Ken has taught both blacksmithing and bladesmithing classes through the Pinellas Historical Society at Heritage Village.
So stop by for some Coffee & Conversation (both of which are FREE) Or call ahead to the Palm Cafe’ (298.DFAC ext 237) and have lunch waiting for you!
