Fall Exhibits Kick-Off Colorful 2019-20 Season at the Dunedin Fine Art Center
Inspired by a DFAC Sterling Society trip to the southwest 2 years ago, this set of fall exhibits celebrates the vibrant mad-made and natural colors that define the region.

Vista -This exhibition is the result of a curatorial trip to Santa Fe & Taos, sponsored by DFAC’s Sterling Society in fall 2018. A dedicated effort to bring home new and vivid visions from contemporary Native American artists and regional visionaries. Artists include: Hock E Aye VI Edgar Heap of Birds (Cheyenne), Terrol Dew Johnson (Tohono O’odham) + Aranda-Lasch Architects, Armond Lara, Anita Otilia Rodriguez, Luis Tapia and Rafa Tarin.

‘Round the Wheel – ‘Round the Wheel is a collection of artists from Tampa Bay and Sarasota exploring every nook and cranny of the color wheel through various media and processes including painting, resin, steel, screenprinting, chemical reaction, and video. Holly Wilson: On Turtle’s Back – Holly Wilson (Delaware Nation/Cherokee) is a contemporary multi-media artist. Her figures serve as her storytellers to the world, conveying stories of the sacred and the precious, capturing moments of our day, our vulnerabilities and our strengths. The stories are at one time both representations of family history as well as personal experiences. Wilson’s work reaches a broad audience allowing the viewer the opportunity to see their personal connection.

Saturday September 14th marks the opening of the 21st annual children’s hands-on exhibit, also named Colorific Colorations. This interactive hands on experience for 4.5 to 12 year olds provides an environment where you can explore COLOR. This exhibit runs though August 13, 2020 in the David L. Mason (DLM) Children’s ART Museum at DFAC.
Saturday, September 14, 11:30am – 1:00pm Please join us for a mid-morning lecture with coffee, pastries + mimosas . . . Hock E Aye VI Edgar Heap of Birds will present video screenings of his public art interventions in London, Venice, Los Angeles and Denver—with discussion to follow
There are TWO DAYS (well an evening and a day!) of celebration to kick of DFAC’s 2019-20 season. Five of the exhibits open the evening of Friday, September 13th. The evening starts with an Artists Talk from 6-7 pm featuring Holly Wilson and Hock E Aye VI Edgar Heap of Birds and is followed by a reception from 7-9 pm.
Saturday, September 14th is all about the kids, featuring CAR PAINTING, FREE Hot Dogs, and LOTS of Hands-on fun in the DLM Children’s ART Museum from 10 am through 2 pm.
