37 YEARS? Seems like Yesterday! It’s Garden Party Time at the Dunedin Fine Art Center!
So many organizations have come to use the arts and artists as centerpieces for major fundraising events. All you need is a location, some artwork, and PRESTO, you have yourself an event. In the Tampa Bay area, one organization has been doing this type of event long enough (this is their 37th year!), and is tied to the arts closely enough (they ARE an art center after all!) to claim ownership of the idea and put on what Tampa Bay Magazine calls the “Best Social Event in the TampaBay area.”
The Dunedin Fine Art Center’s 2017 Garden Party which is presented by DFAC’s board of directors will be SO BIG, it will be moving outside. We have to agree with Tampa Bay Magazine, this is one event you need to attend. This year’s theme is The Roaring Twenties. The party will feature LIVE music with the sultry sounds of Gloria West and the Gents, great food and an Art & Non-Art Auction that’s NOT to be missed! So, mark 5:00 pm till Sunset –April 23rdth on your calendar and make your reservation today.
“We’re thrilled to be a part of leading up to the launching of the renovated Fenway Hotel, with our hosts, Mainsail Lodging & Development,” said London Bates, the Chair of this year’s committee. “The beautiful waterfront location on St. Joseph Sound, will help turn back the clock to when the Fenway Hotel first opened in the 1920’s. Gloria West and her group will help make it possible to close your eyes and see yourself on that broad sweeping lawn during those Roaring Twenties.”
“Yes, it’s a great party, but more important, is the actual effect that the proceeds from our Garden Party have on the vitality and diversity of Dunedin Fine Art Center” insists DFAC Board Chairperson, Amy Heimlich. “Art changes lives and this is most evident at DFAC. We can talk about the economics of the arts and the sense of place, all of which are really important, but most of all: the children, teens and adults who take class at DFAC, view and learn from the exhibits, and share friendships are the ones who benefit from this great community resource” she concludes.
Tickets are available beginning at $150 / person until April 21st on DFAC’s website at www.dfac.org. Tickets will be available at the door of the event for $175. Call 727.298.DFAC for more information.
