Dunedin Fine Art Center Contracts for New Addition/Renovation Project.
(Dunedin, FL – July 03, 2013) On Friday, June 28, 2013 principals got together to ink a deal that will renovate 3,686 sq.ft. and add 7,306 sq. ft.,bringing the total square footage to nearly 31,000 at DFAC’s main campus on Michigan Blvd. in Dunedin. The official groundbreaking is slated for August, 2013.
The $2.9 million project designed by Collman and Karsky Architects of Tampa and constructed by J. Kokolakis Contracting of Tarpon Springs, is the third phase in the Expanding Creative Visions capital campaign. Termed Vision 2013, this phase offers significant expansion and improvement for DFAC’s programs while also laying the groundwork for the 4th and final expansion on the site said George Ann Bissett, DFAC’s executive director.
“It’s exciting to see this project moving forward,” noted Catherine Bergmann, DFAC’s Adult Education Director. “This will mean so much for the adult students in the Gladys Douglas School for the Arts, and all of our visitors” she added. The construction, which was spurred by a State of Florida matching grant and funding from the City of Dunedin will add a new gallery and four studio/classrooms as well as house a newly renovated Gallery Gift Shop and Palm Cafe. “I think this speaks strongly to the important role DFAC plays in the community,” stated Charles Klein, president of DFAC’s board of directors. “And also to the faith that the community places in the future of the organization,” he concluded.
