Hanging out, drinking delicious coffee, talking about art… ahhhh, that’s the life! Well, that IS the life at least for an hour or so each month at the Dunedin Fine Art Center’s Coffee and Conversation series. Enjoy coffee (Presented by the Sterling Society of DFAC) and insights as each month’s invited guest holds forth on their own area of expertise. Admission to these relaxed talks is $5 and is FREE to current DFAC members.
Thursday, March 14th, 2019 at 12 noon, the series hosts multidisciplinary artist Kenny Jensen. Kenny’s will focus on his recently completed public art commission for USFSP entitled “Paths of Consumption: USFSP” as a glimpse into his process of creating a large conceptually based sculpture from conception to completion. As the official Artist On Campus for the 2018-2019 school year, Kenny has collaborated with students to create some of the designs used in the artwork. Kenny will also discuss many of the works from “Interweaving Paths”, an accompanying solo exhibition currently on view in the Nelson Memorial Library on campus that provides a loosely chronological development of the concepts explored in the new sculpture.
Kenny Jensen is a locally based, multidisciplinary artist who has a deep connection to Florida’s unique natural environments. Along with his wife Maggie and young son Cedar, they journey back and forth between St. Petersburg and their family land in rural Gulf Hammock, Florida they call “The Floating Woods” where Jensen spent his formative years exploring the forest and surrounding swamp. His diverse practice includes, the collection and manipulation of found specimens (both natural and man-made), sculpture, installation, painting, photography and video.
So stop by for some Coffee & Conversation. Or call ahead to the Palm Cafe’ (298.DFAC ext 237) and have lunch waiting for you!
