Hanging out, drinking delicious coffee, talking about art… ahhhh, that’s the life! Well, that IS the life at least for an hour or so each month at the Dunedin Fine Art Center’s Coffee and Conversation series. Enjoy coffee (Presented by the Sterling Society of DFAC) and insights as each month’s invited guest holds forth on their own area of expertise. Admission to these relaxed talks is $5 and is FREE to current DFAC members.
Thursday, November 8th, 2018 at 12 noon, the series hosts artist Ellen Jean Cole. Ellen will take us from tales of her youth, through how she brings her awareness of animals, flowers, birds, and bugs and melds it with observations of tree bark, leaves. seeds,mosses and textures to inspire her designs. Don’t expect to be left with just the conceptual though. Ellen will also talk about making molds and working with Precious Metal Clay (PMC) that is her media of choice. Sharing her process from inspiration through design drawings to completely realized one-of-a-kind masterpieces, Ellen is bound to get those creative juices flowing!
Ellen’s home is in Tarpon Springs, Florida. A log cabin on a river in Maine is her summer home. The best of both worlds, with her kind of art – Nature.
After working in the business world with her husband for 25 years, she decided to explore her creative side. Her love of art and nature found a place for expression in making and collecting pottery. A bout with Lyme disease, contracted in while hiking in Florida put a stop to her pottery, but not to her creativity.
Precious Metal Clay came along and she fell in love and has never looked back. She describes her PMC Jewelry as “Nature, with a Victorian flare
