Coffee and Conversation with Demeree Barth at the Dunedin Fine Art Center.
Hanging out, drinking delicious coffee, talking about art… ahhhh, that’s the life! Well, that IS the life at least for an hour or so each month at the Dunedin Fine Art Center’s Coffee and Conversation series. Enjoy coffee (Presented by the Sterling Society of DFAC) and insights as each month’s invited guest holds forth on their own area of expertise. Admission to these relaxed talks is $5 and is FREE to current DFAC members.
Thursday, December 10th at 12 noon,the series hosts artist Demeree bARTh (aka DemiGod). She will share her journey of making art from her childhood through today. Be ready to be inspired!
Demeree is a mixed media artist based in Largo, Florida. After exploring various mediums in college, she received her degree in Photography and Art History. Even though she still has an interest in these subjects, they are not at the forefront of her work today. She enjoys the tactile possibilities of her current mediums of choice, found object sculpture, painting and printmaking.For the past 11 years she has spent her days as an elementary school Art educator and at night has carved out time to create her own artwork. Through travel, research, and her thirst for exploring new mediums, she has built up her own personal artistic vision and style. For quite some time now, she has been inspired by the folk art of other cultures, mainly from the American Southwest cultures, Mexico and Africa.
Demeree incorporates multiple media in her work, so you may see some of her carved rubber stamps in her paintings, or hand formed ceramic beads especially created for a piece of jewelry. As of late, she has been exploring the process of marrying found objects with ceramic and air dry clay to produce sculptural figures and wall hangings. You can find artwork under the alias DemiGod in exhibits and gallery shops at the Dunedin Fine Art Center, Morean Art Center, and Florida CraftArt in St. Petersburg.
