Hanging out, drinking delicious coffee, talking about art… ahhhh, that’s the life! Well, that IS the life at least for an hour or so each month at the Dunedin Fine Art Center’s Coffee and Conversation series. Enjoy coffee (Presented by the Sterling Society of DFAC) and insights as each month’s invited guest holds forth on their own area of expertise. Admission to these relaxed talks is $5 and is FREE to current DFAC members.
Thursday, November 10th, 2016 at 12 noon, the series hosts artist Janice Ritter Kadushin. The title of Janice’s presentation is “The Art Spirit – My Search for a Creative Life” it will detail her journey as an artist, as well as take a look at creativity and inspiration. She’ll delve into where/how an artist gets inspiration and who has it.”
Janice Ritter Kadushin studied at the Art Students League in New York City under watercolorist Mario Cooper. She has been a Life Member of the League for over thirty years. While trained in New York City, Janice truly found her artistic voice in Florida. The vivid colors of sunsets and ocean waters are influences on her work. Additionally, works of literature often inspire her imagery. She aims to elicit an emotional response for the viewer by combining the visual and literary arts, painting things as she thinks them not as she sees them. Janice pushes colors to their fullest potential and enjoys the spontaneity of water- based mediums, juxtaposing them with the precision and delicacy of pen and ink.
Mid-career, Janice took a hiatus from painting to devote herself to her family – her husband Marc and two sons, Jason and Peter – as well as concentrating on her career in private banking. Upon retiring from banking and after surviving a serious health issue, she felt compelled to pick up her brushes and return to her passion. Her work has been shown in New York City as well as in private and corporate collections. Janice is a member of the Collections Committee of the Leepa Rattner Museum of Art and maintains a studio at Stirling Art Gallery and Studios in Dunedin, FL.
