Learn to add a bird to landscape! We will be focusing on indigenous birds like egrets, herons, cranes, spoonbills, seagulls, and sand pipers and painting them into beautiful scenes of bayous, sunsets, and beaches. Learn techniques for scaling the bird proportionate to the landscape, creating texture of feathers, changing the light to fit the scene, and making the birds relate to each other. Fun class where you get to choose your own subjects and make a new painting each class. Instructor demonstrates in pastel, but class is open to any medium.

Start a colored pencil drawing with oil paint! Underpainting with a single color of oil paint is a great base for color drawing. The underpainting quickly establishes the value structure and provides a unifying base for colors on top. Using water-soluble oil paints on paper that takes paint as well as colored pencils makes this method very practical.
If you can color, you can do this – no painting experience necessary! Paint and paper are provided. A choice of subject outlines with color references will be available, or you can bring your own reference to transfer to the paper.
