SUMMARY
The Development & Database Manager will assist the development team with executing fundraising initiatives and achieving overall fundraising goals and will work closely with all departments at the art center to ensure that all fundraising, membership, and programmatic activities are properly coordinated and recorded in the art center’s CRM database. This position is responsible for ensuring that all donor/constituent information is accurately maintained in the database, coordinating development team calendars, assisting the team with developing and executing donor recognition programs, and assisting with managing the art center’s membership programs and communications. The Development & Database Manager is the main point of contact for all requests related to DFAC’s Blackbaud Altru constituent database.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
– Maintains the art center’s Blackbaud Altru CRM database including timely gift processing and tracking of all donor data, acknowledgements, queries, mailing lists, and reports.
– Assists with creation and maintenance of constituent lists, queries, and reports.
– Filing all donation-related paperwork and maintaining organized filing systems.
– Supports the Director of Development with calendar management, correspondence, and other tasks as assigned.
– Assists the development team in creating and implementing fundraising strategies and initiatives. Assists with executing and tracking annual appeals, calls to action, and other fundraising initiatives.
– Collaborates with the development team to cultivate relationships with donors and members.
– Participates in departmental meetings which will include booking meeting space, preparing agendas, distributing materials, and ensuring timely follow up on tasks.
– Assists the Events & Donor Relations Manager in the planning and execution of donor and membership events.
– Sends acknowledgement letters and thank-you notes to donors/members.
– Tracks donations, pledges, and grant deadlines to ensure timely follow-up and acknowledgment.
– Collects, analyzes, and reports accurate and up to date data on fundraising outcomes.
– Manages and facilitates membership communications including member renewals, expiration notices, and membership thank you letters.
– Holds Altru team meetings and through training, audits, and database cleanup will lead the efforts to maintain strong database standards.
– Performing other related duties as assigned and cross-department responsibilities, as needed.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:
Bachelor’s degree in a communications or business related field, or two to three years minimum of development and database experience in a nonprofit organization setting preferred. Knowledge of Blackbaud software programs, especially Raiser’s Edge and/or Altru, highly preferred. Knowledge of fundraising programs in nonprofit organizations, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and computer literacy required.
The best candidate for this position will have experience working with donor databases, CRM software, query creation and advanced database reporting, and working within a development department at a nonprofit organization
This position must have the ability to work occasional nights and weekends, dictated by the development team’s event schedule. Assisting with or representing the development team at events on occasion will be required.
PERFORMANCE APTITUDES:
– Requires organizational skills to coordinate and manage projects. Timely and accurate recording of information is crucial to this position.
– Understands the importance of professionalism and confidentiality when working with and discussing DFAC donors and board members.
– Requires working knowledge of office programs, copier, calculator, telephone; and requires ability to learn new computer programs. Requires the cogent ability to use a variety of tools necessary for reference, descriptive and/or advisory data and information.
ADA COMPLIANCE:
Physical Ability: Tasks involve the ability to exert a small amount of physical effort in light work involving moving from one area of the building to another. Some positions require sufficient hand/eye coordination to perform semi-skilled repetitive movements, such as data entry, filing and/or the use of office equipment or supplies.
