It’s Back… It’s LIVE!!!
Hanging out, drinking delicious coffee, talking about art… ahhhh, that’s the life! Well, that IS the life at least for an hour or so each month at the Dunedin Fine Art Center’s Coffee and Conversation series. Enjoy coffee (Presented by the Sterling Society of DFAC) and insights as each month’s invited guest holds forth on their own area of expertise. Admission to these relaxed talks is $5 and is FREE to current DFAC members.
Thursday, December 15th, 2022 at 12 noon, the series welcomes artist and educator Ry McCullough. Ry will discuss how his development and explorations into print-media were productively interrupted by the revelatory practice of collage. Transgressive operations of cutting, tearing, taping and gluing traditional prints revealed new connections between diverse approaches in creative practice. Fields of printmaking, creative writing, drawing, sound, and sculpture opened as a map for crafted discovery and surprise encounters. Traditional and experimental processes allow him to investigate how art can express states of being and develop language to explore and probe meaning.
BIO
Ryan “Ry” McCullough is an interdisciplinary contemporary artist with a research focus of low-toxic printmaking processes and digital print media.
McCullough has exhibited nationally, internationally and is the founder of the Standard Action Press Collaborative Zine Project. His work explores remixing cultural material from the 20th century through storytelling and narrative. These stories are generated at the intersection of writing, image development and objecthood to examine the inheritance of modernity within a contemporary context.
Numerous key galleries and museums such as Manifest have featured Ry McCullough’s work in the past. In MutualArt’s artist press archive, Ry McCullough is featured in The Contemporary Dayton to Open Online Exhibition, a piece from ArtDaily in May 2020.
