Gary Greer is a true renaissance artist whose career has touched nearly every corner of the creative world. From invention sketches and commercial illustrations to abstract surrealist paintings, photography, digital art, and animated music videos, Gary’s work reflects a boundless curiosity and a passion for exploration. Now, his latest artistic pursuit—sculpture—brings the natural beauty of Florida’s palm trees to life through his signature Pod Sculptures.
With a BFA in design from the Kansas City Art Institute, Gary began his career in industrial design and advertising before moving into fast-paced television graphics. His talent and versatility also led him to design work for art collectibles, freelance illustration, and pioneering digital art. Alongside his visual art, Gary has composed music, recorded two albums, and created surreal animated music videos, blending his skills in digital art and storytelling. He’ll share a few of these videos during his talk, along with insights into his first illustrated children’s book, Astronaut with the Red Umbrella.
In his sculptural work, Gary transforms palm tree pods into art, using the natural textures and contours to create stunning, one-of-a-kind pieces. He describes this process as a way to help others see the world from a fresh perspective. This talk promises to be a fascinating look at a creative journey shaped by experimentation, innovation, and a love of nature’s forms. Don’t miss this chance to hear directly from Gary and experience the scope of his artistry!
