DO NOT PURCHASE THE MOST EXPENSIVE OR THE CHEAPEST SUPPLIES.
Middle of the road is a good place to start.
• 16x20 Stretched Canvas or Canvas Board
• Gesso
• Soft Vine Charcoal Sticks
• Brushes – Synthetic Flats and rounds, Bristle brushes (Commonly used for oil paintings), Large Synthetic Flat brush (3 or 4 inches)
• Paint- Acrylic Colors- Cadmium Red, Cadmium Orange, Cadmium Yellow, Vivid Lime Green/Thalo Yellow Green, Hookers green, Ultramarine Blue, Cobalt Blue, Dioxazine Purple, Burnt Umber, Burnt Sienna, Turquoise Deep, Thalo Violet, White (purchase a larger tube of white, It gets used often)
• Palette- Sta-Wet Handy Palette is my go to, But Palette Paper or an Artist Palette will Work.
• Palette Knives (Inexpensive Plastic is best)
• Cheap Heavy Watercolor Paper Pad
• PLASTIC bucket or water container
• Rags or Paper Towels
• Small Dish Soap(For Brush Cleaning)
• 220 Grit Sandpaper/Sanding Sponge
• Reference Materials (Magazine Photos, Your own Photos, Photos Printed From the Internet)
• Painting Clothes/Smock
• Blue/Low Tack Painters tape
• Table Top Easel (Optional-Some people like to work Flat on the table)
• Some sort of container to transport your materials. Examples- Plastic tool box, Milk Crate Etc.
