SUMMARY:PT579 Beginning Watercolor With Kerry Stratton Waltz
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, 6 Week ClassBeginner\, Intermediate \n\n\n\n\n\nNew to watercolor? This class will lead you through everything you need to know to get started in watercolor. We will complete a painting each week that will focus on basic techniques and explore a variety of subject matter. No prior experience needed\, just a few supplies and a desire to have FUN! \n\n\n\nAges 17 and up. \n\n\n\nClick Here for Supply List\nWatercolor Supply List \n\n\n\nWatercolor Paper : 140 lb. 100% cotton handmade paper (Arches) cold press. I prefer the sheet form which comes in 22×30” which can be cut down to four ¼ sheets which is a good size for class work. \n\n\n\nBrushes : watercolor brushes are soft and made of sable\, squirrel\, ox hair\, and many synthetics. The most important quality of the brush is that it springs back to shape when wet. Please bring at least one of each of the following brushes: 1” Flat Brush\, #8 Round Brush\, #3 Rigger Brush (thin brush with long hairs). \n\n\n\nPaint : I prefer watercolor paint in tubes. There are many very good brands of paint but what is important is to have a warm and cool of each primary color. Grumbacher Academy is a good inexpensive student grade brand. \n\n\n\n CoolWarmRedAlizarin CrimsonCad Red Light or VermillionBluePrussian BlueUltramarine BlueYellowLemon or Cad Yellow LightCad Yellow Medium\n\n\n\nOther useful colors: Paynes Gray\, Burnt Sienna\, Burnt Umber\, Viridian\, Thalo Crimson (pink) \n\n\n\nPalette : any white palette with a good mixing area or a plastic white plate (not foam) \n\n\n\nBoard: This is support for your paper while you are painting so it should be waterproof. Size depends on size of paper and can be made of wood\, plexiglass\, Masonite or Gatorboard. \n\n\n\n2 water containers\, sponges\, papter towels\, tissues\, pencil\, kneaded eraser\, salt\, masking tape\, white crayon\, white copy paper to test color and brush strokes. \n\n\n\nIf you are new to watercolor bring what you have to class and I will help you get started. I have paper and some supplies that you can use. \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nRegister\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDetails\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDate & Time: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nInstructor

SUMMARY:PT484 Color\, Light\, and Form with Anders Fernbach
DESCRIPTION:Thursdays\, 6 Week CourseAll levels welcome! \n\n\n\n\n\nIn this course\, students will learn the language of color in an easy to understand\, objective format. This will greatly aid in their ability to describe and mix any color\, and to maintain control of their palette. In short\, we’ll be discussing practical color theory for painters that can be used in everyday painting scenarios. We will also cover “light logic”\, or the effect that light has in revealing form of any kind. Subject matter is open to the individual student\, as portraiture\, still life\, and landscape all use the principles covered in this course. For practical purposes\, students will work from hard copy photographs or screen images from a laptop or iPad during class hours. \n\n\n\nClick Here for Supply List\nThis list is the minimum; more colors can be collected over time. Most brandshave “artist quality” paints\, and “student grade” versions. Get the artist quality ifyou’re able\, but student grade will suffice in the short term. Student grade paints have more fillers\, where artist grade is mostly pigment and linseed oil. \n\n\n\nExamples:Gamblin artist paints 1980 is their student grade lineWindsor & Newton artist paints Winton is their student grade line \n\n\n\nOil PaintsTitanium white 150mlFlake white (optional)Ivory black 37mlUltramarine blue 37 mlPthalo blue 37mlTransparent Red Iron Oxide\, or Transparent Earth Red (PR101)Cadmium red light 37mlPermanent or Alizarin crimson 37mlCadmium yellow light 37mlCadmium yellow medium 37mlYellow ochre 37 mlRaw umber 37mlCadmium Orange (single pigment preferred) 37 mlSap green 37mlTere Vert 37 ml (optional) \n\n\n\nMediumSmall container of linseed oilContainer of odorless mineral spirits (Gamsol 16.9 oz or larger) and air-tight jar \n\n\n\nRecommended optional-Alkyd medium like Galkyd or Liquin for faster drying time and more transparency \n\n\n\nBrushesYou will need a variety of sizes to begin with. I recommend coming to class with 3 sizes of round brushes. We can discuss brushes more during class\, and you can decide for yourself what you prefer. Like paint tubes\, it takes time to build a collection of brushes\, and there is no need to try to get them all at one time. \n\n\n\nSurfaces18×24 inch illustration board if you wish to complete a color wheel and chartscanvas or gessoed panel (your choice of size\, but larger is often less difficult) Irecommend 16×20 to begin withYou will need more surfaces as the weeks progress\, but this will suffice to start. Depending upon your images\, you may opt for a different size or proportions. \n\n\n\nOtherPalette knife (diamond shape head preferred)Sketchbook\, or notepad for note taking\, and storing hand-outs18” metal rulerJack Richeson grey paper palette pad 12×16A stiff surface like foam board to tape palette paper to during useGesso (acrylic polymer ground) if you wish to prepare surfaces like wood\, paper\,or to add stability to commercially pre-gessoed canvasPaper towels\, or blue shop ragsCotton cloth rags. SUMMARY:W-JW313 Fun with Metal Clay with Barbara Rivolta
DESCRIPTION:WorkshopAll levels welcome! \n\n\n\n\n\nHave you heard about metal clay? It is an exciting medium—almost magical—that turns malleable clay into precious metals. Finely ground silver combined with an organic binder allows you to make deeply textured and easily formed jewelry pieces that can be torch or kiln fired. Metal clay pieces can also be combined with wire or sheet metal using traditional metal smithing techniques. It is very suitable for mixed media combining glass\, ceramic\, polymer clay and other materials. If you’ve wanted to try it but do not want to commit to a six-week class or just want to have a fun day trying out a new craft\, this class is for you! We will make earrings and pendants that we will torch fire and finish. You will have a lovely\, finished pair of fine silver earrings and a pendant with matching fired-in stones to take home with you at the end of the day. A materials fee of $70 includes silver clay\, cubic zirconia gems\, and sterling silver findings paid to instructor \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nRegister\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDetails\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDate & Time: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nInstructor
