Have you ever wanted to learn to throw bigger (even HUGE) pieces? Well, here is your chance. Learn techniques that go beyond just using "more clay." You will learn to make large platters, bowls, and vases. Students will also have the option to work on their own independent projects if they prefer. Students should be comfortable centering about 3 pounds of clay. Ages 17 and up.

Have you ever wanted to make a beautiful set of mugs or other creative projects? Let’s make them together. We will make mugs of all shapes and sizes, tumblers, bowls and more. Intermediate students will have the option to glaze their work with crystalline, if you choose. You will also have the option to use studio glazes, if you prefer. You may also bring your own creative project and I will help you bring your idea to life. Ages 17 and up.

Throwing and Altering Bowls and Platters CL127

Students will learn to bring the clay to life using techniques appropriate for their form and style. We will also cover preparation of the pieces for glaze firing - including CRYSTALLINE GLAZING. While demonstrations will be done on the wheel, hand-builders are welcome and will benefit tremendously from the demonstrations. Students may also work on their own independent projects.

Intermediate and advanced students will learn refining techniques to help give their work a more professional look and feel.

Students will also learn techniques for spraying colors, that are not normally achieved in high-fire oxidation, onto their work. If there is time, we will also experiment with reduction gas firing.
