Skill Levels: Intermediate
Palms are beautiful! All artists want to capture the way the dance in the breeze and glint in the Florida sun! Learn to paint different varieties of palms, and how to use sky holes and negative space to create shape in the fronds. Each class starts with a different challenging palm painting, including a nocturne of a palm lit by moonlight by the sea! Do several studies, and a finished painting each class (that means 6 new palm paintings for your home!) Paintings will include demos in different mediums including pastel, and acrylic, and using different tools like a fan brush and palette knife, which will be supplied by instructor. Challenging class for folks who are intermediate (already had a beginner level class). Open to all media.

Note: What each class will look like: • Set up your table or easel with your medium and support • Photo references will be provided • Start with a value sketch • Go over value sketch to develop a plan for painting, and focal point • Create a small color study • Instructor demonstrates in pastel • Make a finished piece 12x16-16x20 • Critique-what works, what you would do differently • Choose homework (optional) but we start off each class showing and critiquing homework if you do bring it!
