Skill Levels: All Levels
Relief Printmaking is an artistic process consisting of cutting away a print surface in such a way that all that remains of the original surface is the design which is “inked” and printed/stamped on to paper, thus creating multiple copies of the design. This class will introduce students to relief printmaking using linocut. Linocut is a process that utilizes linoleum, a soft rubber like material. We’ll learn basic elements of design applied to printmaking, how to transfer a design to a plate, carving techniques, and how to print single plates using registration techniques. This class is open to all levels, ages 14 & up. Students will need to bring a drawing pencil and sketchbook. Remaining materials will be supplied by instructor.
