Expand your Botanical Printing skills with Natural Dye Extracts. Mother Nature has never been so generous when you understand the terms, the process and the chemistry to create beautiful prints on fabrics. This is a jammed packed workshop!
The focus of the course is to learn many techniques via small samples. These small samples will be a wonderful reference book to keep for years to come.
Students can expect to learn the best formulas for dyes and mordants, how to solid shade dye protein and cellulose fabrics, utilize a post mordant and dye process to enhance printing, discover the uniqueness of iron and tannin and the effect on botanical printing, use multiple color blankets for adding interest and intrigue to botanical printing, discover the role of indigo with natural dyes, and learn how to add interesting textures that are incorporated in the printing process. Students will walk away with a clear understanding of the terms, the process and the chemistry of natural dyes and botanical printing.
Students will be given the supply information and proper mordanting instructions upon registration. The student should arrive with the mordanted fabrics to use in the workshop. The instructor can provide small fabric packets if there is no time to mordant prior to taking workshop.
A $35 supply fee is paid directly to the instructor.
