DESCRIPTION:Fridays\, 6 Week ClassAdvanced\, Professional Only \n\n\n\n\n\nExploration of traditional\, safe methods of etching with anon-acid solution (ferric chloride) using copper plates. This Friday session is for students with considerable etching experience who may expand on more advanced techniques or try mezzotints (Please contact instructor in advance to order plates.) The studio is equipped with both a large 36” and smaller 19” press along with a rosin box and spray paint area for aquatints. DESCRIPTION:Fridays\, 6 Week ClassAll levels welcome! \n\n\n\n\n\nIn this six week course\, students will learn the technique of painting a clothed human figure from a Photographic reference. Using a grid\, you will draw the image on a canvas while mapping out the shadow and light patterns. Emphasis will be placed on proportion\, gesture\, fabric\, folds\, and how clothing describes the form beneath. Also\, we will focus on color mixing and creating realistic skin tones. You will learn how to transfer an image to a large canvas of any size by using a simple accurate grid. The instructor will provide the photographs already gridded and conduct step-by-step demonstrations along with lots of individual instruction on how to proceed. SUMMARY:CL134 Handbuilt Sculptural Vessels with Joanna Mazurek
DESCRIPTION:Beginner  \n\n\n\n\n\nThis Class is designed for beginners and students with some experience with clay.  Students will learn the fundamental techniques of hand building\, including coiling\, pinching\, and slab construction\, to create sculptural vessels. They’ll explore how to manipulate clay to achieve organic forms\, textures\, and detailed surfaces\, while gaining a deeper understanding of balance\, proportion\, and the interplay of form and function. Additionally\, students will be introduced to surface decoration techniques such as carving\, glazing\, and underglazing. By the end of the course\, students will not only have developed their technical skills but also their ability to express themselves through ceramics\, creating unique\, sculptural pieces with personal meaning.
