Note: See Schedules for more time slots on Mondays. 6 Individual 50 minute sessions employing therapeutic art techniques catered to the client and their needs. Great for children with mental, social and physical disabilities such as, but not limited to, ADD/ADHD, ODD, Autism spectrum disorders and learning disabilities. Art encourages creativity, reduces stress, improves self-esteem, and can increase awareness as well as help with symptoms of trauma. Art is an abstract form of communication that allows individuals to express their feelings and emotions non verbally. Art is used to improve hand eye coordination, spatial reasoning, concentration and attention to detail. Sessions can be a great addition to current therapies or as a chance to relax and explore emotions through the creative process. Jennifer Klaus received a B.F.A. in Illustration from Ringling College of Art and Design. She has been teaching 9 years at DFAC in the children/teen art classes/camps. Jennifer has a BA in Psychology and a Master's in Clinical Research/Social Work. She is a LCSW who has worked with children of all ages and their families in individual, family and group sessions, particularly those with behavior, learning and developmental disorders. Jennifer worked with Calvin A. Hunsinger and Paul B. Stephens (both Pinellas county center schools), an inpatient SIPP program for adolescents, an outpatient trauma and behavioral program for children and their families.

Come sample all your favorite mediums like pencils, charcoal, markers, oil pastels, watercolor, tempera and clay. Spend 3 days creating your favorite subjects like robots, animals, dinosaurs, super heroes, etc for some great, artful “break” fun. Drop off 9:00am - Pick up 3:00 pm. Ages 7 - 11. Lunch not provided. Explore the exciting world of Virtual Reality! In this 5 - day class students will work with the theme of the week creating their artwork with traditional 2D materials. After drawing and painting, students will then construct a 3D wire model of their subject. Finally, students will use headsets, laptops and controllers to bring their subject to life in the Virtual Realty world. Bring a USB drive to save your final digital work of art. Ages 9 - 12

She is a LCSW who has worked with children of all ages and their families , particularly those with behavior, learning and developmental disorders. Jennifer worked with Calvin A. Join Chef Debbie McGiffin for these one day, hands-on cooking workshops for teens. We will learn the basics of cutlery, how to read and understand a recipe and the practical art of 'Mise en Place' as well as a variety of cooking techniques. At the end of the workshop students will enjoy their creation together. Each one-day workshop will have a different theme and will be all from scratch. Ages 10 - 15. Maximum 12 students. Ages 8-12 (please have your child eat dinner!). Grab your sleeping bags, pillows, “jammies”, tooth brush and flash lights for our sleep-over in the “Mad Science” hands on exhibit at the Dunedin Fine Art Center. We will tour the Featured Exhibit with flashlights and then return to the Hands-On area for more fun with computers, drawing, clay and theater. We will then partake of popcorn and a movie before lights out. Breakfast consists of doughnuts, bananas, milk and orange juice. Space limited-maximum of 15 campers. Register by Sept 18.
