It is amazing how fortunate we are to have such a unique, excellent, and exciting combination of art and educational experiences available at DFAC. These experiences are so closely interwoven that they relate to each other in a circular fashion: Seeing original artwork in rotating gallery exhibits, taking classes/workshops related to media viewed in the galleries, exploring concepts in the children’s museum based on fine art exhibitions, supporting artists through gift shop or exhibit sales, expanding your horizons through artist lectures, events and socials. Where you enter the circle isn’t as important as being a part of the circle. I see the smiling faces of children who explored the hands on museum via DFAC’s school tours(click) where they learn about history, science, art concepts, humor, creative thinking and problem solving skills. These same smiling faces pop up over the years in the Mini Masters camp, Sizzlin’ Summer visual arts camp, DFAC On Stage camp and the Art Squad teen camp(click). They then become student volunteers who help the younglings follow in their footsteps. Parents applaud how the structure of the art camps helped their child with ADD, ADHD, Aspergers, or Autism. These same children further develop their skills by taking classes after school, continuing on through youth art classes to the specialized Teen classes and then to theAdult offerings. Families come as far as Tampa, Trinity and New Port Richey to participate in DFAC’s programs. Overall, it’s like a multi-multi- generational family that continues to complete the circle!
