In this class we will have fun learning how to stitch a fabric covered rope into a beautifully coiled bowl which is held together with a zigzag stitch. The shape of the bowl we will make is round and medium sized. We will use batik fabrics provided by the instructor. Students will have a choice of colors. We will sew with beautiful Floriani Rayon Threads. Students will learn shaping techniques to form their round bowls. The instructor will also demonstrate how to create other shapes: oval, square and plate-like. We will talk about what these "BOWLS" can be used for besides bowls, baskets, pocketbooks and more. If time permits, we will also discuss using other cords and possibly demonstrate using a surprise type.
Sewing machine required. Students must be comfortable with their sewing machine and be able to use a zigzag stitch easily. MATERIALS FEE $20 paid directly to instructor covers the cost of materials, cord & thread, specialty fabrics and stiffeners.
