Dreams: Untitled is a a collaborative Video Installation arranged by Yoko Nogomi and and Maria Saraceno as an exhibit that allows the viewer to experience the dreams of anonymous people. Weather it is a yearning, a daydream, or a nightmare, many visitors have written down their dreams and attatched them to strands of lights that hang and sway from the ceiling, creating an almost surreal environment.

"About the artist"

Yoko Nogami was born and raise in Tokyo, Japan. She received her bachelor of Fine Art degree from Boston University and recieved a Master of Art degree from the University of South Florida. She apprenticed with Mexican American muralist Judith F. Baca in Los angeles, assisted in the production of World WAll and the Guadalupe Mural project 1089-90. Though possessing a strange backround in painting, she also incorporates video installation and performance as an interdisciplinary artist driven by her research in culture identity/displacement and gender issues. Her works have been shown internationally from Tokyo to Berlin, Germany and Finland. She lives in St. Petersburg, Florida where she is an adjunct professor at the University of South Florida, University of Tampa and the Art Institute of Tampa.

We all have dreams. Wheather it be a dream on dreams at night, daydreams, dreams for the future. How do our dreams differ or are they so different from one another? This project documents, interprets and presents the different faces of our dreams. some dreams inspire, some haunt and many guide the way people construct their lives. Our sources are diverse, from our homeless population to our affluent neighbors. Their identities remain anonymous. The people we have encountered have shared with us many of their candid stories in how their dreams shape their lives. Our project relies on process of growth and change. As we exhibit, we urge our audience to reflect then share their own stories in a form of a handwritten note to be part of our exhibit.
These stories [are available below to view].
